NecroGnomicon

Over the course of time, the necromancer calls up undead minions with a wide variety of abilities, with each new summoning more powerful than the last. The detail-minded gnome of death may be interested in this overview of their abilities.

Evil Dead XV

All of our summoned creatures are undead warriors, with the exception of two very high summonings. The maximum attack values listed here reflect the most powerful minion which can be summoned by that particular spell – you'll get minions which aren't as powerful, assuredly, but they'll always be better than one summoned with a lower level spell (extremely rare cases aside).

Nearly all of our summonings require a single bone chip for successful casting. The notable exception is our last summoning – the Emissary of Thule requires a peridot in addition to the bone chip.

Spell
Level
Summoning Level Health Hit Bash Kick Special Abilities
1 Cavorting Bones 2 30 10

Calling up your first servant from beyond the grave is a grand moment in the life of the necromancer. Savor it.
4 Leering Corpse 5 70 12

Some necromancers choose to rely on their own weapon skills and dark powers when they first start out, and Leering Corpse is their first summoning. While there's nothing wrong with that (as it's quite effective), I think they're missing out.
8 Bone Walk 9 200 14 6

This is the first minion with the ability to bash, adding more damage and the ability to interrupt spellcasting. It is not necessary to give your pet a shield to get them to bash, but it does look rather smashing.
12 Convoke Shadow 13 250 16 6

The attacks of the stronger summonings are considered magical, allowing them to batter down such things as wisps and ghouls.
16 Restless Bones 17 300 20 8 7

At this point, all of your minions' attacks are considered magical, and extra damage is thrown in for kicks.
20 Animate Dead 19 375 22 8 8 Double Attack

Your minion now has the ability to strike twice on a single attack, although it won't happen very often just yet. Double Attack doesn't become reliable until much later.
24 Haunting Corpse 22 700 26 8 8 Double Attack

The necromantic research necessary to acquire this summoning is suitably rewarded. The Haunting Corpse is significantly tougher than the Animate Dead.
29 Summon Dead 25 775 28 9 9 Double Attack
Dual Wield

All of the minions summoned with this spell should have the ability to Dual Wield, allowing them an attack with each hand. Like Double Attack, it's fairly rare at first, only becoming significant with the more advanced spells. At this level, you'll need to give your minion a couple of one-handed weapons to encourage them, they won't dual wield without weapons just yet. If you've been giving your minions shields, stop doing that.
34 Invoke Shadow 29 1000 33 11 11 Double Attack
Dual Wield

Both Double Attack and Dual Wield should be noticeable at this point, although you still need to give Boner two weapons for reliable dual wielding.
39 Malignant Dead 33 1200 39 18 18 Double Attack
Dual Wield

You no longer need to give weapons to your minion for the Dual Wield ability, it should be flailing with both fists quite nicely.
44 Cackling Bones 37 1300 47 19 19 Double Attack
Dual Wield
Lifetap

The increased damage that Cackling Bones provides over the previous summoning is significant. With every hit, there's a small chance that your minion will also drain a bit of life from the enemy. It's endearing.
49 Invoke Death 41 2350 55 25 25 Double Attack
Dual Wield
Lifetap

This is it – the toughest, nastiest skeleton that you can pull from the ground. It does beastly damage, and it can take a beating. It's what you've been wanting all this time. Revel in it.

The final three necromantic summonings call up fairly specialized minions. The necessary spells cannot be researched or purchased; the few remaining scrolls are held by fierce creatures all across Norrath who aren't terribly willing to part with them.

Spell
Level
Summoning Level Health Hit Bash Kick Special Abilities
53 Minion of Shadows 43 1400 57 Double Attack
Dual Wield
Lifetap
Triple Attack
Backstab

The Minion of Shadows is the first summoning that doesn't call up an undead warrior; a rogue is called up instead. As might be expected, it can do quite a bit more damage (backstab can hit for up to 165), but it doesn't have the durability of the previous warrior summoning. The Triple Attack ability only occurs in the absence of Dual Wield, so don't spend a lot of time looking for it.
56 Servant of Bones 44 1500 59 71 Double Attack
Dual Wield
Lifetap
Flying Kick

Our next "special" summoning calls up a skeletal monk to do our bidding. The Flying Kick (up to 71 damage) is fun to watch, at the very least. This minion seems a bit more dexterous than the rest, and reportedly is quite capable of handling two-handed weapons with great skill.
59 Emissary of Thule 47 2800 69 40 40 Double Attack
Dual Wield
Lifetap
Fear Immunity

The ultimate necromantic summoning brings forth a scythe-swinging spectre that fears nothing. It kills things, a lot.

[Translator's Note: It would no doubt please the late Mr. Undercrypt greatly to know that minions even more powerful than those Listed have been summoned by necromancers at the pinnacle of their power. Unfortunately, their characteristics do not appear herein. – B]
